Jakarta — Khairul Fahmi, an analyst and Co-Founder of the Institute for Security and Strategic Studies (ISESS), stated that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s debut at the G20 Summit in Brazil successfully reinforced Indonesia’s position as a leading global diplomatic actor.
“Prabowo’s debut at the G20 Summit Brazil 2024 demonstrated that Indonesia, under his leadership, is committed to playing a significant role in addressing global challenges. Food security, poverty, world peace, and economic diplomacy are key pillars of Indonesia’s foreign policy,” Khairul told reporters on Wednesday (11/20).
“By leveraging realpolitik and soft power, Prabowo positions Indonesia as a key player in an increasingly complex world,” he added.
Khairul noted that Prabowo brought Indonesia not just to present itself but also to take strategic steps in resolving major issues affecting humanity.
In his speeches, as well as during his meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and bilateral discussions with several world leaders, Prabowo addressed not only Indonesia’s domestic concerns but also offered concrete solutions to global challenges such as food security, climate change, and international peace.
“Indonesia is striving to play a larger role in resolving global issues while maintaining its identity and national interests,” said Khairul.
Prabowo’s diplomatic initiatives reflect pragmatic and bold strategies, he said, emphasizing not only Indonesia’s national interests but also contributing to solutions for broader global challenges. With firm and inclusive foreign policies, Indonesia is seen as ready to emerge as a major global power, offering hope for a more peaceful and prosperous future.
However, Khairul stressed that Indonesia’s success would not be measured solely by its contributions to international forums but also by its consistency in implementing fair, sustainable, and inclusive policies.
“As the Javanese proverb says, Urip iku urup (life is to give light), Indonesia under Prabowo’s leadership is expected not just to be part of the global conversation but also to bring light to a better future for the entire world,” said Khairul. (RR)
