Jakarta – Ujang Komarudin, a political analyst from Al Azhar University Indonesia, stated that the appearance of president-elect Prabowo Subianto, who often wears a peci at international events, is a form of nationalism.
Ujang believes that the peci worn by Prabowo is his way of showcasing the nation’s identity, distinguishing Indonesia from other countries in the eyes of the world.
“This is something to be proud of. It demonstrates the nation’s wisdom by wearing a black peci as a form of love and national pride,” said Ujang in Jakarta on Saturday (27/07).
Furthermore, Ujang mentioned that carrying the nation’s identity at every moment is indeed one of Prabowo’s strengths. According to him, it is an effort by Prabowo to maintain Indonesia’s identity.
“I see this as one of Mr. Prabowo’s strengths, showcasing the identity of a nationalist who is always proud to uphold the nation’s nationalism,” Ujang added.
Recently, Prabowo was also seen wearing a black peci while attending the opening of the Paris 2024 Olympics on the Seine River in France.
Prabowo appeared enthusiastic watching the parade showcasing the participating countries, including Indonesia. Sitting by the river with other dignitaries, he stood to honor the Indonesian team as they passed by.
Despite the rain in Paris, Prabowo, who covered his attire with a transparent raincoat, waved to the athletes and cheered them on.
