Jakarta — In the lead-up to the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence, President Prabowo Subianto has called on all Indonesians to proudly display the national flag—the Red and White—wherever they may be. The appeal was made during the official launch of the 80th Independence Day logo and theme, held at the State Palace on Wednesday (July 23).
“I call on all Indonesian people to welcome and enliven the celebration of our 80th Independence Day with enthusiasm, joy, and a spirit of togetherness,” said President Prabowo.
He stressed the importance of public participation in commemorating independence through national symbols that embody the spirit of struggle and unity. Chief among these, he said, is the collective act of flying the Red and White flag across the country.
“Raise the Red and White at your homes, in schools, at offices, in public spaces—wherever you are. The red symbolizes the blood shed for our freedom; the white represents the purity of our soul,” he urged.
President Prabowo also encouraged citizens to celebrate Independence Day in meaningful ways that go beyond ceremonial observance. He emphasized the need to mark the occasion with real action and community-driven initiatives that touch people’s lives.
“Celebrate independence with good and positive activities—mutual cooperation, competitions, cultural performances, and social service events, especially for our most underserved brothers and sisters. Don’t stop at formal ceremonies—create real impact. Clean your surroundings, eliminate waste, and make your environment beautiful, clean, and green,” he said.
The President’s call is part of a broader national spirit commemorating eight decades of Indonesian independence, marked this year under the official theme:
“Unity, Sovereignty, People’s Welfare, and an Advanced Indonesia.”
The theme and logo were unveiled by the President himself as a symbol of the country’s direction and shared commitment to progress through unity.
