Jordan – Indonesian Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto, together with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, reconvened for a bilateral meeting at the conclusion of the “Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza” summit in Amman, Jordan, on Tuesday (June 11).

During the meeting, they discussed plans to enhance aid efforts to Gaza. It was highlighted that attention also needs to be given to increasing aid to the West Bank, as there are requests from the residents there.

Additionally, they explored the possibility of Indonesia and Jordan continuing to send direct aid to Gaza via air drops.

“Indonesia is willing and ready to contribute in any way to alleviate the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Palestine, and we hope to cooperate with countries in this region,” said Prabowo.

Previously at the summit, Prabowo outlined four main points of efforts that Indonesia can make to assist the people of Gaza.

First, Indonesia is committed to increasing its contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). Second, Indonesia will send more medical teams and field hospitals to Gaza, and is also prepared to dispatch a hospital ship and participate in aid deliveries through air drops if needed.

Third, Indonesia is ready to treat up to 1,000 patients from Gaza in hospitals in Indonesia and will repatriate them once they recover and the situation in Gaza stabilizes. Fourth, Indonesia is prepared to provide post-trauma care and education for children from Gaza, who will be returned when the situation stabilizes.

Following the bilateral meeting, Prabowo left Jordan and continued his work visit to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to meet with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, HRH Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
