Quick Impact Program: An Introduction

Praise be to God, in my life, I’ve had the opportunity to witness and learn directly the development strategies from President Suharto, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and President Joko Widodo. From these leaders who have guided our nation’s development, I’ve learned that we need concrete programs that directly tackle the root problems.

In Indonesia, the issue often isn’t the ideas or concepts, but their implementation. Therefore, for our nation to leap towards becoming developed and prosperous, certain development programs must have direct supervision from the country’s highest leadership.

I’ve observed how direct oversight of key development programs was conducted by President Suharto through Sesdalobang (Development Control Secretary), by President SBY via UKP4 (Presidential Work Unit for Development Supervision and Control), and by President Jokowi through the KSP (Presidential Staff Office), among other mechanisms.

It’s common for Presidents Suharto, SBY, and Jokowi to personally visit sites to check on the progress of flagship development programs. Given the limited time of the President and Vice President, it’s crucial to prioritize which flagship programs should receive direct attention from Indonesia’s top leaders.

The main focus in the coming years should be on developing Indonesians, necessitating extra efforts to ensure Indonesian children are well-nourished, healthy, and receive quality education. We also need to eradicate poverty. The extreme poverty rate must be reduced to 0%, indicating that social safety net programs must be strengthened.

After extensive discussions with many experts, here are eight flagship programs I believe we must implement promptly and effectively. These are named the “Quick Impact Program” because they will swiftly bring about the necessary outcomes for our nation.
