Jakarta – Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the State Palace on Thursday (6/6/2024). During the meeting, he presented the outcomes of his work visit to the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore over the past few days.

“I reported to the president (Jokowi) about my conversations, and I continuously tried to convince President Zelenskyy, offering our good services, Indonesia can help to push towards a ceasefire,” said Prabowo.
Furthermore, he revealed that Zelenskyy invited him to attend the Geneva Summit, scheduled to take place this month. However, this invitation still needs further discussion with various parties including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs.
“He specifically asked to meet us, meet Indonesia and me. He invited me to Geneva but obviously, the president, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will formulate perhaps along with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, the final stance of Indonesia whether we will attend or not,” he added.
Regarding Gaza, he reiterated that Jokowi is very supportive if Indonesia sends medical personnel and hospitals to help the civilians in Gaza. Various cooperations with partners are ready to be implemented to achieve this goal.
“I reported various matters about Gaza to the president and he is very supportive, instructing me that we are ready to send hospitals, send our medical personnel. And to cooperate with several partner countries, especially Middle Eastern countries that have also operated hospitals there, namely the United Arab Emirates,” he said.
