Jakarta – The President-elect of Indonesia and the Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto, has called for a peaceful resolution to global conflicts involving countries such as Palestine. He also highlighted the recent Israeli attack on Rafah.
Prabowo believes that a comprehensive investigation is necessary to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
“The recent tragic events in Rafah, in Gaza, which resulted in many innocent victims, including children, women, and civilians,” said Prabowo during the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue 2024 in Singapore, Saturday (11/6).
“These heartbreaking incidents compel us to immediately call for a comprehensive investigation. We fully understand that tragedies like this must be prevented from happening again,” he continued.
On this occasion, Prabowo noted that the conflict in Palestine has a long history and stated that the Palestinian people have a right to a peaceful life.
“These rights are not just for Israel, but also for the Palestinian people to their own homeland and to live in peace,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo mentioned that Indonesia, as one of the countries with the largest Muslim population in the world, is also deeply concerned about the events occurring in Palestine.
“Why is this important to us? Because Indonesia is part of the Islamic world. What happens in the Middle East, what happens in Gaza, affects the concerns of the Indonesian people,” Prabowo explained.
