Doha, Qatar – The President-elect of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term, Prabowo Subianto, met with the leader of Qatar, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday (15/5).

“May Your Highness be healthy and prosperous, continue to succeed, and may the state of Qatar continue to advance and prosper,” said Prabowo.

In that meeting, Prabowo was accompanied by the Vice President-elect, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The discussion focused on enhancing relations between the two countries in various fields, especially defense.

The Emir of Qatar also expressed his hopes to Prabowo and Gibran for further development of the bilateral relationship.

Subsequently, Prabowo and Gibran held a meeting with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.

In that meeting, Prabowo and the Qatar PM also discussed developments in Gaza and the Palestinian occupied territories.

“Thank you for the warm welcome. May the relations and friendship between Indonesia and Qatar always remain strong, for the benefit of both countries,” said Prabowo.

Also welcoming Prabowo and Gibran at the Amiri Diwan Palace were the Minister of Defence of Qatar, H.E. Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, the Chief of the Amiri Diwan, H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.
