Abu Dhabi – The President and Vice President-elect of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 period, Prabowo Subianto along with Gibran Rakabuming Raka, visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to fulfill an invitation from the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ), on Monday (14/5).

The arrival of Prabowo-Gibran at Al Shati Palace, Abu Dhabi was greeted by senior members of the UAE government who were also present at the meeting, including the Vice President of the UAE, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Presidential Court, Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Also present were the Special Advisor to the Presidential Office, Sheikh Muhammad bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan; President of the UAE Football Association, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan; Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei; and the Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Ahmed bin Ali Muhammad Al Sayegh.

Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority and Member of the UAE Executive Council, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak; and the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdullah Al Dhaheri, were also in attendance.

On this occasion, President MBZ also extended congratulations on the victory of Prabowo-Gibran in the 2024 presidential election. MBZ expressed hope that the newly elected President and Vice President of Indonesia would lead the nation to greater advancement in the future.

Meanwhile, in the context of bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in the defense sector, Prabowo and MBZ discussed several efforts that could be made to enhance defense cooperation between Indonesia and the UAE.

Additionally, the two also discussed various regional and global issues that are of mutual concern.

As a token of appreciation for Prabowo’s efforts in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and the UAE, the UAE government awarded him the ‘Zayed Medal’.

“His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan bestowed the ‘Zayed Medal’ on His Excellency Prabowo Subianto as recognition for his sincere efforts and his role in strengthening the cooperative relations between the UAE and Indonesia,” according to the UAE’s Official News Agency, Wakalat Anba’a al Emarat (WAM), on Tuesday (14/5).
