Tangerang — President Prabowo Subianto has called on government officials to reflect on themselves and take lessons from the case of former Deputy Manpower Minister Immanuel Ebenezer—widely known as Noel—who was recently named a suspect in a corruption case.
Speaking at the 2025 Autonomy Expo of the Association of Indonesian Regency Governments (APKASI) at ICE BSD, Tangerang, on Thursday (Aug. 28), Prabowo stressed the importance of integrity in public service.
“If you want to be a good and honest regent, if you want to be a regent loved by the people, loyal to the homeland and the nation’s founders, then you must learn from this. You must run a government that is clean and just. This applies at every level. I was elected by the people, sworn in by the people, and given a mandate by the people to safeguard and uphold the Constitution. That means I must lead a government that is clean and fair,” Prabowo declared.
Prabowo warned that corruption only robs prosperity from citizens, reminding all officials to obey the rule of law.
“This is the duty of mayors, subdistrict heads, village chiefs, and neighborhood leaders. Without it, we will never become a successful nation. Corrupt governments cannot bring prosperity to the people,” he said.
Reiterating his commitment to fighting corruption, Prabowo underlined that he would not shield anyone from the law—even members of his own Gerindra Party.
“Remember my speech at the People’s Consultative Assembly on August 15? I said that even if a Gerindra member violates the law, I will not protect them,” he asserted.
