Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto urged teachers at Indonesia’s Sekolah Rakyat (Community Schools) to dedicate themselves to providing the best possible education, stressing that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty.
“I truly entrust this mission to you, the teachers. You have been carefully selected. You carry a noble duty—you are preparing the next generation to lift their parents out of poverty,” Prabowo said during the Orientation Program for Community School Teachers and Principals at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Friday (Aug. 22).
The president called on all sectors of society to work tirelessly to eradicate poverty nationwide, saying Community Schools are the starting point of that struggle.
Prabowo expressed pride when he saw Community School students together with their parents and families. In his view, the children no longer seemed burdened by uncertainty; instead, they radiated hope for a brighter future.
“Guide your students. Teach them well. Support them. Make them happy. Do not make them pessimistic—lift their spirits. Let Indonesia rejoice, let Indonesia be full of cheer. That is Indonesia,” he declared.
Addressing the teachers once more, Prabowo emphasized the importance of optimism, asserting that Indonesia has the strength to stand on its own feet. For him, true independence means the prosperity of all its people.
