Jakarta — President President Prabowo Subianto extended special appreciation to all officers and participants of the 80th Independence Day ceremony at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Sunday (Aug. 17). He expressed pride in the discipline, order, and enthusiasm demonstrated throughout the day.
“I want to extend my gratitude and appreciation to all participants. From morning until evening, you carried out the ceremony with discipline, order, and great spirit,” Prabowo said before leaving the honorary podium at Merdeka Palace.
The president also instructed Ceremony Commander Colonel (Infantry) Slamet to convey his personal thanks to every participant.
“I am proud—the ceremony was orderly, disciplined, and full of spirit,” he emphasized. “Please extend my appreciation to all participants,” he added.
In line with the president’s directive, 80 percent of the invitations were allocated to the general public. The day’s commemorations continued with a Flag and Proclamation Procession from the National Monument (Monas) to the Palace on a royal carriage, followed by a People’s Festival featuring cultural performances and free culinary offerings, culminating in a fireworks display around Monas.
The celebration will conclude with the United Independence Carnival on August 17, 2025, marking the peak of the 80th Independence Day festivities. The carnival will stretch from Monas along Jalan MH Thamrin to the HI Roundabout and Semanggi.
