Attending Indonesia’s Independence Day at Monas, Citizens Pray for Prabowo and Wish for Lasting Peace

Jakarta — The celebration of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day at the National Monument (Monas), Jakarta, on Sunday (Aug. 17) was filled with enthusiasm as a cultural parade brought citizens from various regions toward the State Palace. Amid the vibrant festivities, heartfelt prayers and hopes were expressed for President Prabowo Subianto and the future of the nation.

Aryati, a resident of Karanganyar Subdistrict, Sawah Besar District, said she felt deeply grateful to be part of the parade. “We were invited to join the parade for Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day. I’m so happy, so excited, to be able to take part in today’s event,” she said enthusiastically.

She hopes the momentum of independence will lead Indonesia toward progress. “My hope is for Indonesia to advance, to be more prosperous, especially for all Indonesian people,” she stated. Aryati also offered a special prayer for the President. “My prayer is for President Prabowo to always be healthy. And for all Indonesian citizens, may we live in peace, prosperity, and harmony,” she added.

Echoing Aryati’s sentiment, her companion also highlighted the importance of national unity. “I hope there will be positive changes that truly benefit the people of Indonesia, so that everyone can be healthier, more prosperous, and safe. I pray that Indonesia remains free from unrest,” she explained. She also delivered a message of brotherhood. “We must avoid conflicts between ethnic groups and religions. Thank you,” she said.

Satim, a resident of Kampung Rawa, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta, also could not hide his pride. “I feel happy and proud to still be able to join and liven up this celebration. I hope Indonesia will achieve even greater success, progress, prosperity, and welfare. I wish for stronger leadership that truly protects and serves the people,” he expressed.

For these citizens, being present at Monas during such a historic moment was more than just a celebration. It was an expression of love for the nation and a collective hope that Indonesia will continue to remain peaceful.
