Jakarta – President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto reminisced about the moment when Peruvian President Dina Boluarte conferred upon him the Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru—the highest distinction granted by the Peruvian government—on 14 November 2024.
Prabowo shared the memory during a joint press statement at Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Monday (11/8), during Boluarte’s official visit.
“On November 14, 2024, President of Peru awarded me the highest national honor of Peru, the Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru, as President of the Republic of Indonesia—an honor that I regard as a tribute to the entire Indonesian nation,” Prabowo said, noting the strong diplomatic relations between the two countries since 1975.
As a reciprocal gesture, Prabowo presented Boluarte with Indonesia’s highest award, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, recognizing her significant contributions to deepening bilateral friendship and cooperation.
“Today, I have conferred the highest state honor from our nation—the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna,” Prabowo stated.
“For her significant service and role in advancing the friendship and cooperation between our two countries, we hope that this partnership will continue to grow in the future,” he added.
The governments of Indonesia and Peru also signed cooperation agreements in several areas, including narcotics eradication, combating illicit trade, food security, mining, energy transition, fisheries, and defense.
