Jakarta — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, affirmed that the government’s strategy to safeguard food security is on the right track. He delivered the remarks during a Plenary Cabinet Session held at the State Palace on Wednesday (August 6).
“Alhamdulillah, our direction in the food sector has been quite successful—current government reserves are the largest in our history,” said President Prabowo.
He extended his gratitude to all ministries and government agencies involved in securing the nation’s food supply.
“Thank you to everyone who made this possible. This is the result of collaboration—of true teamwork,” he added.
Prabowo emphasized that the swift measures taken by the government—particularly during the transition period from the administration of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo—played a crucial role in achieving this outcome.
“Thanks to decisive action, and frankly, a smooth transition between President Joko Widodo and myself, we now find ourselves in a strong position. I can confidently say our food production is stable and secure,” he said.
He further underscored that food production is a strategic pillar of national sovereignty.
“I’ve never believed that a nation can truly be independent if it cannot produce its own food. History shows us—it doesn’t happen. It won’t happen,” Prabowo declared.
“No sovereign country can exist without the ability to feed itself. That’s why food production, to me, is of strategic importance,” he concluded.
