Solo — President Prabowo Subianto paid a visit to former President Joko Widodo at his residence in Solo to share updates from his recent state visits to several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Belgium, and France.
“I shared stories from my international tour. He had been following the developments, it turns out. I told him about the breakthroughs we achieved, especially with the European Union. After 10 years of negotiations on CEPA, we finally broke through,” Prabowo said on Sunday (July 20) in Solo, referring to the long-awaited Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
Prabowo arrived at Jokowi’s residence at 6:00 PM local time, accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who had welcomed him earlier at the airport. Upon arrival, they were warmly greeted by Jokowi and First Lady Iriana.
The meeting, described as cordial and relaxed, touched on several current issues and highlights from Prabowo’s 15-day diplomatic tour.
“Thank God, we came back with some pretty good results,” said Prabowo. “I also stopped by Belarus. They have potash, and they need our rubber and many of our commodities.”
Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia continues to enjoy strong international standing and acceptance on the global stage. He reiterated the nation’s long-standing commitment to neutrality and peaceful cooperation.
“Indonesia continues its tradition as a non-aligned country. We’re well known for not joining any political blocs. We’ve joined BRICS purely from an economic standpoint. At the same time, we’ve applied to become a member of the OECD [Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development],” Prabowo explained.
“So we’re truly accepted by all sides. Indonesia is neutral. We respect all countries. We seek friendship with every nation. We do not interfere in the domestic affairs of other countries—and because of that, we’re welcomed everywhere,” he added.
Joining Prabowo in the meeting with Jokowi were State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Angga Raka Prabowo.
