Jeddah — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud (MBS) agreed to strengthen cooperation to improve healthcare facilities and enhance services for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.
“The two sides expressed their shared aspiration to deepen collaboration in the health sector, particularly regarding the implementation of health requirements for Hajj,” the official joint statement from both countries said on Wednesday (July 2).
Beyond the focus on Hajj services, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia also committed to supporting broader investment in the healthcare sector. The two nations plan to collaborate in pharmaceutical manufacturing, vaccine production, and health technologies to support religious services and meet the needs of pilgrims.
“They also agreed to support investment in healthcare through partnerships in the pharmaceutical industry, vaccine development, health technology, and human resource development,” the statement continued.
During the meeting, President Prabowo conveyed his appreciation for the Saudi government’s commitment to serving the Two Holy Mosques and providing care for pilgrims from around the world, including those from Indonesia.
Prabowo also expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and he formally invited the Crown Prince to make a reciprocal visit to Indonesia.
