Jeddah — A warm embrace from Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud (MBS), greeted Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto as he arrived at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on Wednesday afternoon (July 2).
President Prabowo arrived at Al-Salam Palace at 5:00 p.m. local time. As he stepped out of his vehicle, Crown Prince MBS was already waiting to welcome him with a friendly greeting and an affectionate hug—a gesture underscoring the closeness of ties between the two nations.
In a striking display of ceremonial honor, Prabowo’s motorcade was escorted by a formation of white horses bearing the flags of Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, symbolizing the enduring friendship between Jakarta and Riyadh.
Walking side by side, Prabowo and MBS proceeded to the podium to stand for the playing of both national anthems—“Indonesia Raya” and Saudi Arabia’s royal anthem—accompanied by an honor guard in full regalia.
President Prabowo took a moment to offer a respectful salute to the Saudi honor guard, acknowledging the warm and ceremonious welcome extended to him and the Indonesian delegation.
Among those accompanying Prabowo during this high-level meeting were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries Rosan Roeslani, Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Abdul Aziz, Head of the Hajj Management Agency (BPH) M. Irfan Yusuf, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
