Bondowoso— Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to driving national energy efficiency by eliminating costly logistics chains. The move is a central pillar in the country’s broader push toward energy independence and a transition to clean, sustainable power sources.

“The government will continue to work closely with private sector partners, foreign investors, state-owned enterprises, and regional governments to realize this ambitious agenda,” Prabowo said during the virtual inauguration of renewable energy projects across 15 provinces and an expansion of oil production at the Cepu Block in East Java on Thursday (June 26).

“We even have a strong chance of becoming one of the first countries to achieve net-zero carbon emissions on schedule. But more importantly, we can generate energy efficiently by cutting down on expensive logistics,” he added.

Prabowo noted that Indonesia possesses significant reserves of oil and natural gas, and that the technology to accelerate energy distribution—especially to remote areas—is already in place. However, he emphasized that the long-term future lies in renewables.

“Solar energy in particular is our future. It enables villages, subdistricts, regencies, and even the most remote islands to become energy self-sufficient. This is a tremendous hope for a brighter future for Indonesia,” he stated.

The President also underscored that energy self-sufficiency, food security, and industrial downstreaming remain among his government’s top strategic priorities. He pointed out that reducing logistics costs is a crucial element for ensuring the success of these national programs.
