Prabowo Urges Chinese Investors to Expand into Science, Healthcare, and Tourism

Jakarta — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has invited Chinese business leaders to broaden their investment portfolios in Indonesia, urging them to look beyond natural resources and into strategic sectors such as education, healthcare, tourism, and science and technology.

The invitation was extended during President Prabowo’s address at the Business Forum Dinner held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Jakarta on Saturday evening (24/5), attended by Chinese Premier Li Qiang and a delegation of Chinese investors.

“I warmly invite Chinese entrepreneurs to continue investing in Indonesia—across all sectors. Not only in downstream natural resources, but also in education, healthcare, tourism, as well as science and technology,” Prabowo said.

The President emphasized the importance of Indonesia–China economic ties as a long-term strategic partnership that could bring broad benefits not only to both nations, but to the wider Asian region.

Prabowo highlighted the success of ongoing bilateral cooperation, citing landmark projects such as the Jakarta–Bandung high-speed rail, industrial zones, and nickel downstreaming initiatives.

“Chinese companies have successfully led major projects—the Jakarta–Bandung high-speed rail, industrial estates, and the downstream processing of nickel, including the development of large-scale industrial and technological projects,” the President noted.

However, Prabowo also underscored the urgency of diversifying investment flows, stressing that Indonesia’s future lies in accelerating growth in high-value sectors that deliver tangible social benefits.

“I encourage Indonesian entrepreneurs to see China not just as an investor, but as a learning partner, a production partner, and a partner to enter global markets together,” he added.

According to Prabowo, strong economic relations should form the foundation for deeper ties in social and cultural spheres. He also expressed admiration for the People’s Republic of China’s commitment to defending developing countries and promoting global justice.

“Tonight, we are not only welcoming Premier Li’s visit to Indonesia and celebrating our shared achievements—we are embracing this partnership as a step toward a brighter, more hopeful future,” Prabowo concluded.
