Prabowo Praises Firm Indonesia–Thailand Action Against Human Trafficking

Bangkok — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has praised the firm joint efforts between Indonesia and Thailand in combating human trafficking, which recently resulted in the successful repatriation of Indonesian nationals who had fallen victim to the crime.

“I would like to express my gratitude for Thailand’s decisive actions in addressing these cases and assisting Indonesia in bringing home our affected citizens,” Prabowo said following a bilateral meeting with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra at the Government House in Bangkok on Monday (May 19).

Prabowo underscored the importance of enhancing communication and dialogue between national leaders and institutions to further strengthen security cooperation.

“We agreed to enhance our security alignment through more open visits and dialogue between leaders and agencies,” he stated.

In the area of defense and security, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to fully utilizing platforms such as the High-Level Committee and the Annual Security Dialogue to expand cross-sector collaboration.

“We also aim to strengthen cooperation in maritime security, counter-terrorism, cyber security, joint military exercises, and defense industry partnerships. We will maximize the use of platforms like the High-Level Committee and the Annual Security Dialogue,” Prabowo explained.
