Palembang — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, expressed his appreciation for Islamic scholar Ustad Adi Hidayat’s initiative in launching the Gerakan Indonesia Menanam (Indonesia Planting Movement), also known as Gerina. Prabowo delivered the statement during his visit to the simultaneous rice planting event across 14 provinces, held in Simpang Pelabuhan Dalam Village, Ogan Ilir, Palembang, South Sumatra, on Wednesday (April 23).
“I’m truly happy today because we have a visionary religious leader, an Ustad with extraordinary ideas. He’s a leader of the Islamic community, but with a deep commitment to Pancasila,” said Prabowo.
He commended Ustad Adi Hidayat for boldly inviting people of all faiths to take part in the planting movement.
“He treats all religious communities, even those of different faiths, as family. This is the kind of Indonesia we are building—a nation that continues to rise, a country that is peaceful, strong, and secure. What Ustad Adi Hidayat has pioneered brings great joy. Innovation, improvisation, research, and technology—this is what will propel Indonesia to success,” Prabowo said.
He went on to emphasize that the rise of a great nation begins at the grassroots level.
“We want food self-sufficiency not just nationally, but at the regency, subdistrict, and provincial levels. Thank you to the Minister of Agriculture, and thank you to Ustad Adi—he truly embodies the principle of ing ngarso sung tulodo (leading by example), and he is also an innovator. If we had 100 Ustads like him, working alongside the military, police, and religious leaders of other faiths, we could truly elevate Indonesia’s dignity,” Prabowo concluded.
