Palembang — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, was warmly welcomed by residents and local farmers upon his arrival in Simpang Pelabuhan Dalam Village, Ogan Ilir, Palembang, South Sumatra.
Arriving at 10:50 a.m. local time, Prabowo was immediately greeted by enthusiastic farmers and villagers eager to take selfies and shake his hand.
“Mr. President! A photo, please!” shouted the farmers and residents as they rushed toward him.
Prabowo responded warmly, greeting them and posing for selfies while shaking hands with several farmers who had been eagerly awaiting his presence at the Simultaneous Rice Planting Movement across 14 provinces.
During the event, Prabowo also took the opportunity to pilot a drone used to spread rice seeds over a marshland that has now been transformed into fertile rice fields.
“This area will eventually become 100,000 hectares of productive rice fields. I’ve been informed by the Minister of Agriculture and the Governor that the annual yield is projected to increase from 3 million to 4 million tons—a 25% increase in just one year. Indonesia is poised to lead the world’s second green revolution,” Prabowo declared optimistically.
Following the inspection of the rice planting program, Prabowo continued with his next agenda—attending and officially launching the Indonesia Planting Movement (Gerakan Indonesia Menanam / Gerina), an initiative led by renowned cleric Ustad Adi Hidayat.
