Jakarta — President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, speaking at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025 in Türkiye on Friday evening (April 11, Western Indonesia Time), explained his motivation behind initiating scholarship opportunities for Palestinian children to study at Indonesia’s Defense University.
He also reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to supporting Palestine through the construction of additional healthcare facilities in the West Bank and Gaza, while opening Indonesia’s doors to Palestinian students seeking education.
“We want them to return to their homeland safe, healthy, and educated,” Prabowo stated.
Prabowo revealed that Indonesia has already deployed a medical team in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates to establish a field hospital in Gaza.
In his speech, Prabowo strongly emphasized the importance of a two-state solution as the path forward to resolve the ongoing conflict.
“I firmly believe that in the end, peaceful cooperation must prevail. That is the key to true peace,” he said.
Prabowo added that Indonesia will not remain silent in the face of the immense suffering endured by the people of Gaza and its surrounding regions due to the prolonged conflict. He said Indonesia is also prepared to bring Palestinian civilians in need of intensive medical care to Indonesian hospitals for treatment.
“How can a six-year-old child be held responsible for anything? How can unarmed mothers be bombed, lose their homes, and lose everything? It defies logic,” Prabowo said.
He further announced that he would soon visit Cairo, Doha, and Amman to hold consultations with Middle Eastern leaders, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan.
This diplomatic effort forms part of Indonesia’s active role in promoting peaceful resolution and humanitarian assistance.
“This is how we show solidarity. Indonesia may be far away, but my people feel that attacks on the people of Gaza, Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria are attacks on themselves,” he stated.
