Prabowo Receives Sky-Blue Carpet Welcome from Erdoğan Upon Arrival in Turkey

Ankara — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Ankara on Wednesday evening (April 9) to a warm welcome from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who personally greeted him with an honor guard and a ceremonial sky-blue carpet.

Prabowo’s visit to Turkey is part of a broader diplomatic tour of the Middle East, following his departure from Abu Dhabi earlier in the day.

Stepping off the Indonesian presidential aircraft, Prabowo offered a respectful salute to President Erdoğan, who responded with a handshake in a show of mutual respect between the two leaders.

A bouquet of flowers was then presented to President Prabowo—an official gesture symbolizing both a warm reception and the enduring friendship between Indonesia and Turkey.

“Welcome,” Erdoğan said to Prabowo.

“Thank you,” Prabowo replied.

During the official welcome ceremony, Prabowo also greeted members of the honor guard.

“Merhaba asker! (Hello, soldiers!),” he called out.

“Sağol! (Thank you!),” the soldiers responded in unison.

President Prabowo’s visit includes a scheduled address to the Turkish Parliament, where he will be joined by the Speaker and other members of parliament. The visit will also feature a bilateral meeting aimed at further strengthening diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Turkey.
