Jakarta – Pandawara Group expressed their hopes regarding environmental issues after meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace, Presidential Complex, Jakarta on Tuesday (11/3) afternoon.
Gilang, a member of Pandawara Group, said that they conveyed several important points related to the river cleaning programme that they have been promoting to Prabowo. Prabowo also shared various obstacles they have encountered in the field, ranging from complicated licences to costly fees.
During the meeting, Prabowo is said to have responded positively to Pandawara Group’s movement and highlighted the importance of their activities. As such, Pandawara Group hopes that the government will provide support for them to move forward more massively.
‘Insha’Allah, hopefully this movement or programme can become a national or massive movement. Every region is active in preventing environmental damage, at least the youth first, and maybe after we present it to Mr President, it might also be very helpful for us to make the movement bigger,’ he added.
He said Prabowo was also firm that waste is a national issue that must be resolved and requires synergy from various parties to solve the problem.
‘He is firm, earlier he had said that waste has become a national issue. That means we have to solve it massively,’ he added.
‘This cannot be done with just one party, it requires synergy between individuals, the private sector and the government,’ he continued. (RR)
