Prabowo Subianto Presents Policies for Indonesia’s Economic Self-Sufficiency, Foreign Exchange to Danantara

Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto explained the government’s strategic policies that he has realised, starting from the new Export Proceeds Foreign Exchange policy, the gold bank, to Danantara Indonesia.

Prabowo explained the policies for Indonesia to be independent or stand on its own feet in the economic sector during the Inauguration of Pegadaian Gold Bank and Bank Syariah Indonesia Services at The Gade Tower, Pegadaian Head Office, Wednesday (26/2) afternoon.

‘The government that I lead now has made several strategic policies as an effort towards economic independence towards a safe, just and prosperous Indonesia to stand on our own feet,’ Prabowo said.

First, Prabowo has signed Policy in Government Regulation (PP) Number 8 of 2025, which was announced in a press conference at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, 17 February 2025 the obligation of foreign exchange export proceeds to be kept 100% in Indonesia for 12 months.

‘First, on 17 February we announced the government’s policy to strengthen national economic resilience through the obligation to keep the export proceeds of natural resources (DHE SDA) in the country,’ Prabowo said.

‘With this step, which will come into effect from March 1, our export proceeds are expected to add as much as US$80 billion in 2025 because we start from March 1, it is estimated that in one year it will reach at least US$100 billion,’ Prabowo explained.

Secondly, Prabowo is also grateful and proud of the birth of Danantara Indonesia (Daya Anagata Nusantara), which was also launched on 24 February 2025.

‘Full of gratitude and pride, we have launched an investment fund that we name Danantara Indonesia (Daya Anagata Nusantara), the power of energy, the power of anagata is the future of the archipelago, namely our homeland. This fund with assets under management totalling more than US$900 billion will enable us to accelerate our industrial development,’ he added.

As for today, Tuesday, Prabowo launched the first gold bank service in Indonesia, which is expected to boost gross domestic product (GDP) by Rp 245 trillion and be able to open 1.8 million new jobs.

‘We hope that this will increase our gross domestic product, if I’m not mistaken, it can add Rp 245 trillion and will open up 1.8 million new jobs,’ Prabowo said.

With the gold bank service, gold processing from upstream to downstream will be optimised domestically. In addition, Prabowo said the gold bank will also save foreign exchange and can be an instrument to control monetary stability through gold liquidity.

Prabowo continued that currently gold production in Indonesia has increased from 100 tonnes to 160 tonnes in a year. Therefore, it is time to improve the service ecosystem to optimise the country’s gold reserves.

‘We hope this will accelerate savings and increase our gold reserves,’ he said.

‘Indonesia, which has the sixth gold reserves in the world, will for the first time have a gold bank. I thank all those who worked hard to achieve this day,’ Mr Prabowo said. (RR)
