Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasised the principles of transparency and prudence in the management of BP Investasi Danantara. He emphasised this during the launch of Danantara at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (24/2).
Prabowo explained that the establishment of Danantara marks a new era for SOEs, which are now no longer just business entities but national assets that will become fundamental agents of development and growth for economic growth and people’s welfare.
‘Therefore, SOEs must operate with high standards, the best governance, SOEs must promote innovation, big ideas, transparency, technological advances, while maintaining discipline, prudence and commitment to good governance and responsible management,’ Prabowo said.
Prabowo said his administration had proven its commitment to managing state assets with strict financial discipline and responsible governance within the first 100 days of work.
‘We managed to secure more than Rp 300 trillion, almost US$20 billion in state savings. Funds that were previously hampered by inefficiency, corruption, and poorly targeted spending,’ Prabowo said.
Prabowo also emphasised his determination to build a clean government that is free from corruption. ‘I will fight corruption as hard as I can and with all the energy and effort I can muster indiscriminately.’
‘The same principle will be the foundation in the management of Danantara Indonesia,’ he explained.
Prabowo explained that the previously misdirected and inefficient funds can now be managed by Danantara Indonesia and can be invested in 20 or more national projects as part of industrialisation that can create jobs in the country.
‘High-impact projects, which will create significant added value for our nation, create tangible benefits, quality jobs and long-term prosperity for the people of Indonesia,’ he said,
‘We no longer want to sell our natural resources cheaply, we don’t want to be a source of raw materials for other nations,’ he continued.
Prabowo also said that Danantara must be managed in the best possible way, with great care and transparency. This is because Danantara was established for the next generation of Indonesia.
‘Danantara Indonesia is for our children and grandchildren. Therefore, Danantara Indonesia must be managed very carefully, very transparently, with mutual supervision,’ Prabowo said.
‘It must be auditable at any time by anyone, because this once again belongs to our children and grandchildren, to the next generation of Indonesians,’ he said. (RR)
