New Delhi – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto thanked India for its support for Indonesia in BRICS membership. He conveyed this after a state meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at India’s state residence, Hyderabad House located in New Delhi, Saturday (25/1) afternoon local time.
‘We also thank India for supporting our permanent membership in BRICS. We believe this cooperation will benefit global stability and regional cooperation,’ Prabowo said in his statement with Modi.
Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were exchanged during the meeting, covering areas such as health cooperation, digital infrastructure, and security.
Prabowo emphasised that from the discussions that took place between the two countries, Indonesia and India want to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, health, energy, security, digital, AI, IT, and energy.
Prabowo also congratulated India for celebrating its 76th Republic Day. He emphasised that the Republic Day parade will be the first time an Indonesian military contingent has participated in a military parade abroad.
‘To all the people of India, may prosperity and success always be with India. Indonesia considers India an old friend. In our struggle for independence, history tells us that India was one of the strong supporters of our independence struggle,’ Prabowo said. (RR)
