Jakarta – President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, instructed Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and members of the Merah Putih Cabinet to contact him directly if any critical matters arise while he is abroad.
“The preparations for Christmas and New Year are well underway, and I believe everything will go smoothly. However, maintain good communication so I can be contacted at any time. If there are important decisions to be made, everyone can consult directly with me. That’s what I wanted to emphasize,” said Prabowo at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, on Tuesday (17/12).
Prabowo departed for Cairo, Egypt, aboard the PK-GRD aircraft from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Tuesday afternoon for an official state visit.
He outlined two main agendas for the visit: a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and attendance at the D-8 Summit in Cairo.
The D-8, or Developing Eight, is an economic and development cooperation organization established in 1997. Its members include Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Turkiye, and Pakistan.
Prabowo noted that this would be the first state visit by an Indonesian president to Egypt since 2013.
“Egypt is a close friend, a strategic partner for Indonesia, and an important country in the Middle East,” Prabowo said. (RR)
