Jakarta – The Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the 2024–2029 period, Setyo Budiyanto, revealed President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to the newly appointed KPK leadership.
“He has firmly stated that activities related to the state budget (APBN), wastefulness, and corruption must be eradicated decisively. In my opinion, this is a clear directive for all of us,” said Setyo at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (16/12).
Setyo added that the KPK leadership is ready to implement Prabowo’s guidance by ensuring good governance and compliance in procurement processes.
“We take his directive as a guideline for supporting the President’s program, ensuring that the government minimizes wastefulness, safeguards the state budget, and ensures that procurement complies with the rules,” he explained.
Since his inauguration, Prabowo has repeatedly emphasized the importance of avoiding corruption, pledging firm action against those who commit it.
In his most recent remarks at the 60th-anniversary celebration of the Golkar Party at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor, West Java, on Thursday (12/12), Prabowo warned against misplaced loyalty that protects wrongdoing.
“Do not let misguided loyalty protect our members when they are in the wrong,” said Prabowo.
As Chairman of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo has also reminded Gerindra members holding government positions to avoid corrupt practices, vowing to personally take action if they violate public trust.
“I have always told my party members, Gerindra: just because you are part of Gerindra, don’t think you can act recklessly and expect the party to protect you—it won’t happen,” Prabowo declared.
“This applies to governors, mayors, and regents. If you betray the people, I will be the first to act against you,” he emphasized.
Prabowo’s consistent message underscores his firm stance on maintaining integrity and combating corruption at all levels of government. (RR)
