Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the immediate benefits experienced by the public following his administration’s decision to erase bad debts for micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM).
He noted that this policy, implemented within a month of his presidency, has revitalized the enthusiasm of farmers and fishers, who are now more motivated and productive.
“The erasure of old debts in the UMKM sector, particularly for our farmers and fishers, has been deeply felt. It allows them to be more spirited and active again,” he stated during the Plenary Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Office in the State Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Monday (2/12).
Earlier, Prabowo enacted this debt relief for UMKM, farmers, and fishers following the issuance of Government Regulation No. 47 of 2024, signed on November 5.
In addition to this policy, Prabowo highlighted other impactful measures, including raising the minimum wage and reducing airfare prices by 10% ahead of the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays.
He expressed gratitude to the Red and White Cabinet for achieving these policy milestones and underscored the importance of maintaining a strong commitment to the people.
“I sense that, across the board, the public feels we are steadfast in our commitment to prioritize the people and national interests. We are building upon the foundations laid by previous presidents, while continuing to refine policies and systems that need improvement,” Prabowo concluded. (RR)
