Rio de Janeiro — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian national football team after their 2-0 victory against Saudi Arabia in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Tuesday (1/19).
“Thank you, extraordinary national team!” Prabowo said at the Galeão Air Force Base in Brazil after attending the G20 Summit 2024.
Despite his busy schedule at the G20 Summit in Brazil, Prabowo made time to support the Indonesian national team. He managed to watch the Asian Zone Group C World Cup Qualifier match between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
Prabowo followed the match via his mobile phone in a car, as shown in a post on his personal Instagram account, @prabowo. At 10:00 p.m. WIB, the account shared a moment of Prabowo dressed in a formal gray suit, blue tie, and black peci, watching the match on his phone in his left hand.
He was seen smiling and clenching his right fist after Indonesia scored a goal against Saudi Arabia.
“Go Garuda. Come on, Indonesia,” Prabowo wrote in the caption.
Prabowo is scheduled to continue his working visit to the United Kingdom, where he will meet with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and King Charles III. (RR)
