Lima, Peru – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto delivered a keynote address at the APEC CEO Summit 2024, held at the Gran Teatro Nacional in Lima, Peru, on Thursday, November 14. The event, themed “People, Business, Prosperity,” provided a platform for President Prabowo to share key insights on the region’s economic prospects.
Prabowo emphasized the Pacific region’s dynamism, describing it as a hub of economic growth and technological potential, driven by its demographics and vast natural resources.
“In my view, the Pacific is one of the most dynamic regions in the world. Its economic growth, technological potential, demographics, and abundant resources in the Pacific and Indo-Pacific regions all point to a bright economic future for everyone,” he said.
He further highlighted the critical role of economic activity in fostering peace and prosperity, crediting the contributions of businesses, entrepreneurs, and industries as indispensable to achieving these goals.
“Without the dynamic participation of the economic sector, we simply cannot achieve growth and prosperity. Without growth, we cannot eradicate poverty or create meaningful employment opportunities,” Prabowo remarked.
Drawing from his own experience as a businessman, Prabowo underscored the necessity of legal certainty and a favorable economic climate for sustainable business growth. Stability in politics, security, and attractive incentives, he noted, are crucial for fostering a thriving business environment.
“I believe prosperity can only arise from peace. Peace stems from understanding, and understanding comes from engagement and negotiation,” he stated.
Prabowo also championed collaboration, engagement, and dialogue as essential paths to achieving shared goals.
“I have always chosen the path of collaboration, engagement, communication, and negotiation. As a nation, we must uphold and live by common laws and international rules, but we must also cultivate a shared understanding of everyone’s interests,” he concluded. (RR)
