Prabowo Subianto Meets Biden: Indonesia and U.S. to Advance Science and Entrepreneurship Education

Washington, D.C. – In a recent meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and U.S. President Joe Biden, both leaders committed to deepening cooperation in education, research, and development. This initiative was detailed in a joint statement released by the White House on Wednesday, November 13, following the meeting on Tuesday, November 12 (local time).

The joint statement highlighted that both leaders “welcomed further collaboration to advance fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM), language education, and entrepreneurship.”

The cooperation will place special emphasis on supporting women, youth, and people with disabilities.

As part of this initiative, Prabowo and Biden underscored the importance of expanding vocational training and skill development, particularly in technology, manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, construction, and creative industries. These efforts aim to equip students and workers with technical certifications and skill sets relevant to these sectors.

In addition, a White House Fact Sheet revealed that Indonesia and the U.S. plan to expand the Fulbright educational scholarship program. This expansion will include welcoming American Fulbright scholars and English Teaching Assistants into educational institutions overseen by Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs.

“Indonesia and the U.S. plan to expand the Fulbright program to bring American Fulbright scholars and English Teaching Assistants to institutions managed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs,” stated the White House. (RR)
