Beijing – President Prabowo Subianto’s arrival in Beijing was met with excitement from Indonesian students studying in the Chinese capital. Eager to catch a glimpse of their president, dozens of students gathered in front of his hotel, waving Indonesian flags as they awaited his arrival.
“Mr. Prabowo, we’re Indonesian students in Beijing!” the students called out as Prabowo arrived at the hotel around 7:07 PM local time on Friday (November 8).
Prabowo, upon noticing the crowd, stepped out of his vehicle to greet the students, shaking hands and taking selfies with the enthusiastic group.
Velisia, a student from Beijing Foreign Studies University, expressed her excitement at the chance to meet Prabowo face-to-face.
“We’re so happy that President Prabowo made time to come to Beijing. It’s amazing to meet him in person,” Velisia shared.
Winston, a student from Tsinghua University, echoed the excitement, noting his nerves as he greeted the president.
“I was a bit shaky, honestly—I didn’t even know whether to hold the flag on my right or left! It’s my first time meeting the President,” Winston laughed.
The students voiced hopes that Prabowo’s visit would further strengthen the relationship between Indonesia and China, benefiting Indonesian students in Beijing.
“We hope that Indonesia-China relations will continue to improve, and that we’ll have more opportunities to attend events like this,” Velisia added.
Winston concluded, “I wish for stronger ties between Indonesia and China and that President Prabowo’s goals here are achieved smoothly. Amen.” (RR)
