Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto received Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong for an official state visit at Istana Merdeka on Wednesday (October 6). The arrival ceremony featured a ceremonial procession from the National Monument to Istana Merdeka, escorted by a mounted guard and marching band.
Upon arrival at the palace courtyard, PM Wong was greeted by a lively group of children dressed in traditional attire from various Indonesian regions, symbolizing the country’s rich cultural diversity.
President Prabowo, dressed in a gray suit and traditional black peci, warmly greeted PM Wong. The two leaders exchanged a friendly handshake before walking together on a red carpet to review an honor guard composed of members from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police.
After the welcoming ceremony, Prabowo and Wong proceeded to the Jepara Room in Istana Merdeka for a one-on-one discussion, followed by a bilateral meeting. This visit aims to further strengthen and deepen the longstanding bilateral relations between Indonesia and Singapore.
President Prabowo was joined by key members of the Indonesian delegation, including Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Manpower Minister Yassierli, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Suryo Pratomo, and Director General of Asia-Pacific Affairs Abdul Kadir Jailani.
PM Wong’s delegation included Singapore’s Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen, Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Manpower and Trade & Industry Tan See Leng, Minister of State for Digital Development, Information, and Health Rahayu Mahzam, Singapore’s Ambassador to Indonesia Kwok Fook Seng, and Foreign Ministry Permanent Secretary Albert Chua.
