Magelang — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has underscored his strong commitment to eradicating corruption in Indonesia, outlining a strategic approach to reduce corrupt practices.
In an exclusive interview with SCTV, Prabowo highlighted plans to implement a rigorous oversight system to combat corruption, alongside a pledge to enforce laws firmly.
“We must establish a strict oversight system and renew our commitment to enforcing the law with strength and integrity,” Prabowo stated, quoted on Monday (October 28).
Prabowo further noted that there are multiple methods to reduce corruption, with a proper system being essential to success.
“Above all, we need the right system in place. With digitalization, computerization, and AI, I believe we have numerous tools at our disposal to combat corruption,” he explained.
In addition to structural reforms, Prabowo emphasized the importance of providing a quality standard of living for key decision-makers. He believes this approach can help mitigate any temptation among officials to misuse their positions for personal gain.
“We must ensure a decent and sufficient quality of life for those in significant decision-making roles,” he noted.
Prabowo also urged ministers and government officials to avoid greed and prioritize the country over personal interests.
“In my view, what’s worse is greed—a boundless desire to amass wealth solely for the sake of maintaining power,” Prabowo concluded. (RR)
