Magelang — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto stated that in forming his cabinet, known as the Red and White Cabinet, his primary intention is to place the right individuals in roles where they can excel.
This statement was made in an exclusive interview with Retno Pinasti from SCTV, quoted on Monday (October 28). Prabowo expressed his gratitude that his cabinet has received a positive response from the market, with the IHSG in the green for seven consecutive days following the cabinet announcement.
According to Prabowo, the guiding factor in forming his cabinet was a clear commitment to finding the best people.
“Alhamdulillah the market responded well. But my intention has always been to put the right people in the right places. This is about carrying out significant missions, so I need the best team possible. That’s my view,” Prabowo stated.
Prabowo also indicated that he would continuously evaluate his cabinet members without being bound by a fixed timeline. He emphasized that he would not tolerate any cabinet member using their position for personal or factional interests.
“I don’t think there’s a set timeframe for evaluations. I instill a sense of responsibility and encourage love for the homeland. If someone loves their country, if they recognize they are working for the best interests of the people and the nation, I believe the results will be positive,” he explained.
“The real problem arises when someone thinks, ‘I have authority, I have power, I’ll look for opportunities to benefit myself or my own group.’ This would not be favorable,” he continued.
Prabowo also shared the reason behind his strong warning to cabinet members during the first cabinet meeting some time ago, where he underscored his commitment to implementing the Free Nutritious Meals program for school children and pregnant mothers.
He stressed the importance of this program, stating that the nation’s future relies on the next generation. “Our children, and indeed all Indonesians, should not go hungry,” he declared. “We are a nation rich in resources. That wealth should mean that our people are well-nourished. If anyone doesn’t support this principle, then it’s best they stay away from me—and certainly not be part of my administration,” he concluded.
“I’m just blatant. For me this is a principle, we have calculated it. Other countries have been doing this for a long time. India is brave, even though India per capita is half that of Indonesia. He is brave and has been doing this I think for more than 10 years,” Prabowo said. (RR)
