Jakarta — Adinova Fauri, an economic researcher at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), noted that Indonesia’s Finance Ministry, under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is likely to maintain national fiscal stability.
This continuity is largely due to the economic team’s composition, which remains similar to that of former President Joko Widodo’s administration.
“This stability is primarily driven by the continuity of the economic team within the Cabinet, particularly with key figures in the Finance Ministry remaining the same, which has reassured the markets that fiscal discipline under Prabowo is still intact,” Adinova stated in a discussion titled “Responding to Prabowo-Gibran Cabinet: Implications, Risks, and Recommendations” on Friday (Oct. 25).
Adinova highlighted that since last week, when Prabowo began appointing prospective ministers and deputies, the market has responded positively.
“Since last week, the selection of ministers and deputies by Prabowo has been met with a positive market response. However, the Finance Ministry should remain cautious, as this reaction may be short-term,” Adinova warned.
He added that the Finance Ministry, under Prabowo’s leadership, would likely enhance government program implementation.
“The Cabinet’s formation and the selection of qualified individuals within the Finance Ministry, including the continued presence of Minister Sri Mulyani and her Deputy Suahasil Nazara, indicate a solid team. While there are a few new additions, the structure remains largely unchanged,” Adinova concluded. (RR)
