World Leaders Begin Arriving in Indonesia for Prabowo Subianto’s Inauguration

Jakarta — As the inauguration of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming approaches, numerous world leaders and representatives have begun arriving in Indonesia. The inauguration is set to take place on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

According to a broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat on YouTube, the first international delegate to arrive on Saturday (October 19) was Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. He landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport early in the morning and was greeted by Indonesia’s Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Bintang Puspayoga. Manturov received a warm state welcome from the TNI honor guards, with the Russian and Indonesian flags flying side by side.

Following his arrival, Manturov was escorted to the Russian Embassy’s vehicle, which awaited him on the airport tarmac.

Later in the day, Lao Vice President Pany Yathotou landed at Soekarno-Hatta Airport around 11:00 AM and was welcomed by Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno. Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Attiyah, also arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base at 1:00 PM and was received by Indonesia’s Minister of Investment, Rosan Roeslani.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that a total of 20 heads of state will attend the inauguration, while representatives from 34 other countries are also expected to be present.

The inauguration ceremony for Prabowo and Gibran will take place at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. To ensure the security of the event, Polda Metro Jaya has deployed 6,757 personnel, while the TNI is contributing an additional 100,000 troops to maintain safety and order.

As international dignitaries continue to arrive, preparations are underway for what is expected to be a significant moment in Indonesia’s history. (RR)
