Prabowo Subianto Instructs Cabinet Members to Be Friendly and Communicative with Media

Hambalang — President-elect Prabowo Subianto has emphasized the importance of effective communication with the media for his future cabinet members. Candidates for deputy minister (Wamen) positions in the Prabowo-Gibran administration revealed that Prabowo wants all cabinet members to be approachable, clear, and data-driven when speaking to journalists.

This was discussed after the candidates attended a briefing at Prabowo’s residence in Hambalang on Thursday (October 17).

“We were given material on how to handle journalists and how to communicate programs. It covered everything—from economics to artificial intelligence (AI). I believe this is a positive start. The president-elect wants us all to be friendly towards the media and to communicate in a clear, measurable way, backed by data,” said Bima Arya, a politician from the National Mandate Party (PAN).

Bima further explained that the briefing included various case studies, illustrating both good and bad examples of how world leaders handle the media.

“For instance, we learned about how former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other world leaders dealt with the media. There were both good and bad examples, which will serve as our guide,” Bima added.

Golkar Party politician Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus praised Prabowo’s approach, calling it a breakthrough. He appreciated the efficient and effective nature of the briefing, which was not only informative but also engaging.

“In my opinion, this is a significant step forward by president-elect Prabowo Subianto. We’ve received briefings on global situations, geopolitics, and teamwork, and we’ve had the opportunity to get to know each other—especially the deputy ministers and heads of agencies. It’s a very positive experience,” said Lodewijk.

This was the second day of briefings for prospective ministers, deputy ministers, and heads of government agencies in the 2024-2029 cabinet, which have been taking place at Prabowo’s Hambalang residence. The series of briefings began on Monday (October 14) and will conclude on Thursday (October 17), having started at Prabowo’s home on Jalan Kertanegara, South Jakarta.

The candidates, ranging from politicians and academics to ministers from President Joko Widodo’s era, are expected to fill key roles in the new administration. (RR)
