Jakarta — President-elect and Chairman of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, warmly welcomed the visit of the Chairman of the Majelis Syuro of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), who visited his residence at Jalan Kertanegara No. 4, South Jakarta, on Friday (October 11).
The meeting, which lasted for approximately an hour and a half, was described by Prabowo as a warm and cordial discussion.
Prabowo reminisced about their political journey together, highlighting the cooperation between Gerindra and PKS from 2014 to 2019.
“Thank you for coming to Kertanegara. It reminds me of our earlier times, when we began our political cooperation here in Kertanegara from 2014 to 2019. Back then, we were not just allies but as close as family,” Prabowo said humorously to the Chairman of the Majelis Syuro, recalling their shared political history.
Prabowo also emphasized the importance of maintaining mutual respect, despite the fact that PKS supported a different candidate in the 2024 presidential election, which Prabowo won.
“Yesterday, we had different choices, but it’s no problem—we remain friends. This is what we want for politics in Indonesia, where respect is always upheld,” Prabowo stated.
Even with differing political paths, Prabowo stressed the importance of fostering friendships with all political parties, prioritizing the interests of the Indonesian people.
“Once the contest is over, we return to building cooperation. We all want the best for our people, and we recognize that all political leaders must prioritize the interests of the Indonesian people,” Prabowo concluded. (RR)
