Moscow – Following a visit to Turkey, Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Wednesday (31/7). During the meeting, Prabowo emphasized the importance of cooperation between Indonesia and Russia.
Prabowo highlighted that this enhanced collaboration spans several sectors, including food security, energy security, and education.
“I plan to initiate a large-scale scholarship program to send our students abroad,” Prabowo stated.
The elected Indonesian president mentioned that Indonesia will prioritize medical training.
“We are short of 116,000 doctors, medical doctors. Therefore, we want, if possible, to send some of our young people to study at Russian universities,” Prabowo added.
To support this initiative, he plans to allocate a special budget for scholarships.
“We see Russia as one of the main countries where we want to send our students. In fact, in the sixties, we sent many of our young generation to study here; it’s about education,” he said.
