Jakarta, July 18, 2025 — The Government of Indonesia has reaffirmed that sustainable development is not merely a promise, but a concrete, ongoing commitment. In its fourth Voluntary National Review (VNR) presented at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York, Indonesia reported that it has successfully achieved 61.4% of its national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators.
This milestone marks a significant step on Indonesia’s path toward the 2030 Agenda, and highlights the country’s progress in becoming a regional and global beacon of sustainable development.
According to Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas), Rachmat Pambudy, this achievement reflects the collective efforts of national and local governments, the private sector, academia, civil society, and local communities.
“What sets Indonesia apart is our comprehensive commitment to the principle of No One Left Behind. Every step we take in development is designed to reach all segments of society—without exception,” said Rachmat.
This commitment is being translated into tangible reforms and innovations, such as the integration of the National Socio-Economic Single Data System (DTSEN) to improve targeting and precision in policymaking; the establishment of 61 SDG Centers at universities across the country; and regular performance audits of SDG implementation by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).
Indonesia also showcased transformative grassroots initiatives—from villages turning waste into energy, to farmers adopting regenerative agriculture, and women’s empowerment programs successfully breaking the cycle of poverty.
In the face of ongoing global crises and widening social disparities, Indonesia’s ability to meet more than half of its SDG targets sends a strong and hopeful message: inclusive development is not only possible—it is already happening.
“This is not the finish line. On the contrary, it’s a call to action for faster, stronger, and more impactful work. Challenges remain, but we will not stop,” Rachmat emphasized.
The government is calling on all segments of society to help safeguard and accelerate the SDGs agenda as a legacy for future generations. With strong collaboration and a spirit of unity, Indonesia is determined to prove that in development, no one is left behind.
